Nobody plans to let their commission lapse. It happens because recertification is the kind of errand that stays on a list until it becomes an emergency, and then you are the officer who cannot work armed shifts until the paperwork clears.

We have made this one as painless as we know how to make it.

Two pieces, both easy to schedule

Part 1: online, $39.99. The classroom refresher. Video-based, self-paced, unlocks the moment you enroll. Do it on a night shift break if that is what your week looks like.

Part 2: in person, $60. Your range day and proficiency requalification at the East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club in Longview. These run on published dates, which are listed on our booking calendar with their start and finish times.

Total: $99.99 and two short commitments you can both book today.

What the refresher covers

Part 1 revisits the material a commissioned officer is expected to keep current: the legal framework around your authority, use of force and its limits, and the professional standards that apply on duty. It is a refresher, not a re-run of the full Level 3 course, and it is built to respect the fact that you already do this job.

Part 2 is the practical requalification, including the firearms proficiency requirement.

Why the published dates matter here more than anywhere

A new student can afford to be flexible. A working armed officer cannot. If your commission expires on the 14th, “we’ll find you a range day soon” is not an answer. You need to know, now, that there is a slot on the 6th and another on the 12th.

Open our calendar and you can see them. Pick one, finish your online portion before it, show up, requalify, done.

A small amount of planning saves a lot of trouble

Three things worth doing today, in order:

  1. Find your expiration date. Not approximately. Exactly.
  2. Open our calendar and book a Part 2 date comfortably before it. Two to four weeks of margin absorbs a sick day, a work conflict or a weather problem without putting your commission at risk.
  3. Enroll in Part 1 now so the online portion is finished well before you show up.

The single most common version of this story is an officer who starts the process the week their commission expires and discovers the next available range date is after it. Renewal requirements and timing are set by the Texas DPS, and the deadlines are not negotiable at our end, so the only real protection is starting early.

Certificates

You download your certificate of completion when you finish, to submit with your renewal to the Texas DPS Regulatory Services Division. DPS fees are separate from the course price.

While you are at it

If your OC certification is also due, our OC Part 2 practical runs on its own published dates and takes very little time. Handling both in the same month is a lot less disruptive than handling them in separate panics.

Your commission is how you earn. Spend an evening and keep it current.
