Two-day class. Day 1 — Sunday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Day 2 — Monday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Sixteen classroom hours in total.

Level IV is not a general “advanced” security tier — Texas DPS requires it specifically for anyone applying for a Personal Protection Officer (bodyguard) license.

It is a minimum 15-classroom-hour course taught by a DPS-approved personal protection instructor, in addition to the Level II and Level III training every commissioned officer completes.

To be licensed as a Personal Protection Officer you must also:

• Be at least 21 years old
• Hold, or apply for, a Security Officer Commission
• Complete a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) evaluation confirming you are not disqualified for a mental health reason
